One question I get asked all the time when people call to ask about joining dance lessons is "What type of shoes should I wear, and do I need to have "special" shoes to take class?". The simple answer is, No. You don't have to have special dance shoes to dance......but it does help a whole lot.

Think of it this way, if you were going out to play a very casual game of football with your friends (women can play football too!), you wouldn't go out and buy football cleats, and pads, and a helmet and all of the other equipment football players wear just to play 1 game. You'd probably just throw on the best thing you have and go out and have some fun - and that's exactly what we want you to do. It may be harder to play in your tennis shoes from home instead of a nice pair of cleats that give you the right traction and grip, but if it's just one game, you can make do. Just come as you are and have some fun.

However..... if football became something you were going to do regularly, or wanted to actually get good at, you would definitely want to have the right equipment. In this case, it's a pair of good dance shoes.
