Rhythm: QQS QQS or 123 567, Country dancers dance it SQQ SQQ or 1 34 5 78
Time Signature: 4/4 timing.
Tempo: 112-158 BPM
Music Style: Typically contemporary love songs that are slower in tempo. Genres can range from R&B, soft rock, pop, to country.
Character: A dance that should look fluid, romantic and soft when danced. Bodies sway from side to side gracefully turning and sometimes traveling around the ballroom. It uses patterns similar to those of Hustles, Salsas, and Swings, as well as patterns from the Waltz and Fox Trot.
Where you can use it: Whenever you hear a love song being played that has that rhythmic QQS feel to it, you can dance a Night Club to it. 10 out of 25 of a current list of top wedding songs I have in my Wedding dance blog are Night Club 2-Steps! None are Waltz!! As always, you will find all styles of music, including Nightclub 2-Step at ballroom dances.
